Professor Marek Cygan Joins ELLIS Unit Warsaw

We are excited to welcome Professor Marek Cygan to ELLIS Unit Warsaw.
Marek Cygan is an associate professor at the University of Warsaw. His early academic work focused on algorithms, including active participation in international programming competitions and research on parameterized complexity and approximation algorithms, which ultimately led to an ERC grant in this field.
He later transitioned into machine learning as a co-founder of the robotics startup Nomagic, where he contributed to deploying advanced pick-and-place robotic systems across several countries. Currently, he leads the Robot Learning Group at the University of Warsaw, conducting research on large language models, reinforcement learning, and robotic manipulation. In recent years, he has also expanded his work into the defense domain.
We are delighted to have Professor Cygan join our community and look forward to the impact of his expertise within the ELLIS network.
