ELLIS Unit Warsaw expands its structure with new institutions
On December 23, 2025, ELLIS Unit Warsaw officially entered a new stage of development with the signing of an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement, expanding its institutional structure.

As of that date, ELLIS Unit Warsaw is jointly formed by the IDEAS Research Institute as the main host institution, together with Warsaw University of Technology and University of Warsaw as co-hosting institutions. This new framework strengthens the Unit’s organizational stability and provides a solid foundation for the long-term development of research in artificial intelligence.
The signing of the agreement marks an important milestone in the development and ambitions of ELLIS Unit Warsaw. Expanding the Unit to include new institutions enables the integration of complementary strengths from a specialized research institute and two leading academic universities, supporting ambitious research projects, international collaboration, and the education of future generations of AI researchers.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Piotr Sankowski, Director of the IDEAS Research Institute; Prof. Mariusz Malinowski, Vice-Rector for Research at the Warsaw University of Technology; Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Warsaw; and Prof. Tomasz Trzciński, Director of ELLIS Unit Warsaw.
