Prof. Piotr Sankowski Selected for UN AI Expert Panel

The United Nations has announced the members of its newly established Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence. Among the 40 experts selected worldwide is Prof. Piotr Sankowski, ELLIS Fellow affiliated with ELLIS Unit Warsaw and Director of the IDEAS Research Institute.

The panel was formed from a pool of more than 2,600 candidates and brings together leading scientists and practitioners to provide independent, science-based assessments of the global impact of artificial intelligence on societies and economies. Its work is intended to support international cooperation and evidence-based policymaking in the rapidly evolving field of AI.

Prof. Sankowski’s appointment represents a significant recognition of his scientific achievements and expertise, as well as an important contribution from ELLIS Unit Warsaw to global discussions on responsible and trustworthy artificial intelligence.
