Pre-NeurIPS 2024 summary

On Dec. 4, 2024, PreNeurIPS took place at Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, with 25 posters from NeurIPS 2024, ECCV 2024, ECAI 2024, CoRL 2024 and WACV 2025 conferences presented by researchers of PW and IDEAS NCBR, where the ELLIS Unit Warsaw operates. The event was part of Pre-NeurIPS series organized in ELLIS Units across the continent.

‘A good poster encourages a guest to interact with the author. The poster is supposed to interest a person from a distance of 2-3 meters. Poster can help our paper get attention. Personal interactions at conferences offer a great advantage over journal publications’ – says Jan Dubiński.

‘This year, NeurIPS has an acceptance rate just over 23%. There were 15,000 submissions. There was even a randomized lottery registration system for participants without papers due to the high interest.’

During the event, votes were cast for the best posters (and presentations). Wojciech Łapacz was the winner, while Jan Dubiński and Karol Rzepka took second place ex aequo. Congratulations and good luck! (Wojciech was recently in the IDEAHACK winning team as well).

‘We are delighted that the Pre-NeurIPS session is organized not only in Warsaw, but also takes place this week in 17 centers of the ELLIS network, including Zurich, Amsterdam and Oxford. Pre-NeurIPS helps researchers practice their ability to present results and share knowledge,’ says Agata Bader, coordinator for academic and international cooperation at IDEAS NCBR.
